Mountain Road stays shut overnight due to snow and ice

Summary

The Isle of Man's Mountain Road will remain closed overnight due to snow and ice along some sections of the route. Police said conditions had varied "tremendously" on the 14 miles between the Creg Ny Baa and Ramsey Hairpin, with some areas "extremely slippy" and others virtually snow free. The closure of the route has been extended until 10:00 GMT on Saturday. A spokesman for the force said an inspection of the condition of the road will be held early in the morning that day.
