More than half of UK airports have hiked 'kiss and fly' drop-off fees - here's the full list

UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 16 – More than half of UK airports raised drop-off fees in the past year to manage congestion and fund improvements, while 9 of 10 busiest EU airports charge no drop-off fees, RAC said.

  • Since last year, more than half of UK airports raised drop-off fees, with charges reaching some of the highest summer levels, RAC analysis shows.
  • According to the AirportsUK chief, Karen Dee said, 'All airports offer a free drop-off facility,' and added that 'where fees are charged, this helps airports manage and reduce congestion, noise, carbon emissions and air pollution.'
  • In the EU, eight of the top 10 busiest airports such as Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt and Madrid, have no drop-off fees, contrasting with UK airports
  • Reflecting frustration, Rod Dennis said `the seemingly annual ritual of many airports hiking the cost of drop-offs is unfortunately continuing unabated`, adding increases are likely to frustrate drivers dropping off family and friends.
  • With barrierless systems, RAC senior policy officer Rod Dennis warned that airports are replacing on-site payment, risking parking charge notices for drivers who forget to pay.
