MOSCOW - Russia said on Friday it had recaptured another village in its Kursk region, where it is seeking to finally expel Ukrainian troops after nearly eight months of fighting.

The Russian authorities have announced on Friday further progress in their counter-offensive against Ukrainian troops in the Russian region of Kursk, where they have taken over the town of Gogolevka in recent hours, without Kiev having pronounced itself on it.

As the Russian media celebrate the reconquest of the Kursk region in Kiev, Ukrainian commentators are interested in the Ukrainian attacks in the Belgorod region, and claim that the two operations are linked.
