According to a test, three quarters of honey samples from Austrian supermarkets are fake - Greenpeace is calling for immediate clarification by authorities, honey bottlers and supermarkets.
Spar has already removed products from the shelves. Other supermarket chains currently see no need to do so.
Many honey products that are imported and sold in Austria and Germany are said to be either adulterated with sugar syrup or completely fake. Beekeepers have had the honey tested in laboratories in Estonia and Tyrol, and their long-held suspicions have been confirmed. The first retail chains are already removing products from the shelves.
