Kent M20 crash injures two after more than 30 vehicles collide
Two people were seriously injured and 11 others were treated as emergency crews worked to clear the pile-up.
Over 30 vehicles collided on the M20 in Kent on Saturday evening, forcing road closures between Junction 8 and Junction 9 on the London-bound carriageway.
Thick fog combined with smoke from nearby Leeds Castle fireworks reduced visibility on the London-bound carriageway shortly after a 5:30pm fireworks display.
Kent Police reported two people sustained serious injuries; one was transported to a London hospital while the other received local treatment, with 11 people total treated for injuries.
Emergency services including Kent Fire attended the scene, with officials confirming road closures between Junction 8 and 9 would remain in place overnight while incident response continued.
Motorists were urged to use the A20 as an alternative route, while Kent Police requested anyone with information contact them by calling 101 and quoting reference 07-1245.
