More than 1 million people attended the two Illinois state fairs for the second year
Du Quoin set a second straight attendance record as the Illinois State Fair drew 714,231 and officials cited about $100 million in economic impact.
On Tuesday, Governor JB Pritzker announced that Illinois' two state fairs exceeded 1 million combined visitors for the second consecutive year, with the Du Quoin State Fair setting an attendance record.
Southern Illinois' Du Quoin State Fair saw 287,058 visitors, while the Springfield fair welcomed 714,231 guests, marking the third-highest attendance total in its history despite extreme weather.
Springfield Grandstand ticket sales reached an all-time high of 72,143. IDOA Director Jerry Costello II noted visitors fueled the local economy by staying in hotels and shopping locally.
Despite seven days of rain in Springfield and six consecutive days exceeding 95° in Du Quoin, operations continued successfully. The fairs remained among the Midwest's most affordable at $145 for a family of four.
Planning is already underway for the 2027 Illinois State Fairs, with Springfield's event scheduled from August 12 to August 22. Du Quoin's fair will run August 27 through September 6.
