Governor joins FWP in opening Siskin Island Fishing Access Site

On Wednesday, Gov. Greg Gianforte joined Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) Director Christy Clark to cut the ribbon on the Siskin Island Fishing Access Site in Paradise Valley to expand public access on the upper Yellowstone River.

Bitterroot River under hoot owl restrictions

As of July 22, the Bitterroot River, from the confluence of the East and West forks to the confluence with the Clark Fork River, is now under hoot owl restrictions.

Hoot-owl fishing restrictions implemented on Yellowstone, Madison, other rivers

"These restrictions, commonly known as hoot-owl restrictions, prohibit fishing from 2 p.m. to midnight each day," FWP said in a press release.

'Hoot-owl' rules go into effect on Upper Clark Fork, Bitterroot rivers

The daily fishing restrictions are aimed at protecting heat-stressed fish as water temperatures warm.
