By Patt Clark Hodge – A new schoolhouse was constructed on a hill overlooking Hammon in 1911. It was a three-story, brick structure and housed twelve grades. Mr. Walter Carper was head of the Hammon School System from 1913-1917. Frank Roby moved his store from Old Hammon and located on the northeast corner of Main and Broadway.
