More evacuation orders and alerts south of Pear Lake wildfire
The expanded orders and alerts now cover nearly 200 properties as crews build containment lines and plan ignitions to slow the fire’s spread.

- The massive Pear Lake wildfire has grown to more than 1,600 square kilometres, with these new orders representing the southernmost extent of evacuation measures issued for this incident.
- BC Wildfire Service crews moved four water tanks into the Highway 99 corridor on Friday, ensuring "easy access to water should structure protection along this corridor be necessary."
- South of Pavilion Mountain, crews completed machine guards and initiated planned ignitions to remove fuel and prevent the fire from crossing Pavilion Creek.

KAMLOOPS — A new lightning-caused wildfire has been spotted south of Kamloops on Saturday (Aug 22).
