More than 50 BCWS members continue to battle Bradley Creek wildfire in Vernon
BCWS has 47 firefighters, five pieces of heavy equipment and two helicopters on scene as it works to extinguish residual heat.
- As of Thursday, Aug. 20, the BCWS maintains a large presence at the Bradley Creek wildfire, which has been classified as being held for 12 days.
- Among 123 active wildfires in the province, the Bradley Creek blaze is one of 45 fires currently classified as being held by crews.
- BCWS crews are patrolling the entire perimeter, working approximately 100 ft inside the fire zone to extinguish residual heat while infrared drone scanning has identified specific heat signatures.
- On Wednesday, Aug. 19, BCWS had 47 firefighters, five pieces of heavy equipment, and two helicopters on scene, with additional heavy equipment crews remaining on standby.
- Extending efforts into the interior remains a priority as crews address residual heat; one evacuation order and two evacuation alerts remain in place as of Thursday morning, Aug. 20.
