"We are working with the Serbian authorities and members of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism to determine what kind of support we can mobilize," said a spokesperson for the European Commission in a written response to the BBC.
Serbia has requested assistance from the European Union (EU) to combat the wave of forest fires in the Balkan country, which have caused at least one death, several wounded and thousands of hectares burned in recent days.
The situation is particularly difficult in the Deliblato Sands nature reserve, where more than 3,500 hectares of forest and vegetation have been cleared so far.
