Monongahela National Forest celebrates acquisition of 2600+ acres of land

DAVIS, W.Va. (WBOY) — A ceremony was held at Blackwater Lodge on Friday to celebrate the Monongahela National Forest’s acquisition of a parcel of land in the Blackwater Canyon, which was purchased in December 2024. The parcel is more than 2,693.31 acres in size and extends from Blackwater Falls State Park to Hendricks. The land was acquired from the Crites family, who are well-known in the timber industry.
