'Money laundering' arrests as armed police seize £100K

Warrants were carried out across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, resulting in two arrests led by specialist economic crime officers and neighbourhood policing teams.
The operation formed part of an ongoing probe into suspected money laundering tied to illegal waste activity, authorities said it will aid joint investigations and disrupt criminal activity with Environment Agency support.
Officers recovered nearly £100,000 in cash, including around £97,000 on scene and an estimated £200,000 t in bank accounts, during searches at a Peopleton farm in Pershore.
Enquiries remain ongoing as officers process business material and digital devices seized from two men arrested on suspicion of firearms offences, pursuing outcomes through the justice system.
Specialist teams and partner agencies supported the day of action, deploying Task Force rapid entry officers and specially trained digital detection dogs while the Environment Agency stopped activity at 743 illegal waste sites in 2024/5.
