Officer Shoots, Kills Man Who Allegedly Robbed Moncton Business, Lit House on Fire: RCMP
The suspect fired shots at officers and set fires during the standoff, with police shooting him dead; Serious Incident Response Team is investigating the case.
- On Saturday, New Brunswick RCMP said a man was shot and killed by an officer during a police operation in north end Moncton, with the man pronounced dead on scene.
- A report of an armed robbery on Mountain Road prompted Codiac Regional RCMP to respond at 1:51 p.m., and the suspect fled on foot into a nearby residence.
- RCMP posted on social media just before 3 p.m. that the suspect fired shots from inside the home while police contained the area and Moncton Fire and Ambulance NB responded.
- The New Brunswick RCMP referred the matter to the Serious Incident Response Team for an independent investigation, and said officers will remain in the area during the ongoing investigation.
- Police asked the public to avoid Mountain Road, Gorge Road, Frampton Lane and Briardale Drive on Saturday while the Briardale Drive operation concluded about an hour later around 3 p.m., with Brunswick News seeking comment from RCMP.
