Mizzou shows depth in cohesive exhibition win over Kansas State
Mizzou scored 100 points with strong team depth and free-throw shooting despite Mark Mitchell's injury and limited playing time, coach Dennis Gates said.
- On Friday, Oct. 24, Mizzou men's basketball team defeated Kansas State Wildcats 100-91 at Mizzou Arena, Columbia, Missouri, in a home exhibition opening the 2025-26 season.
- As a tune-up before the regular season, the exhibition showcased Missouri's depth with 100 points scored despite Trent Pierce and Trent Burns sidelined.
- From the free-throw line to the glass, the Tigers went 34 times to the line with Jayden Stone 6-for-6 and Annor Boateng 6-for-7 as Boateng scored 15 points and six rebounds.
- Mark Mitchell exited with a wrist injury after 11 first-half minutes and remained sidelined with ice, while Missouri coaches rested veterans Trent Pierce and Trent Burns to evaluate depth Friday.
- Coach Jerome Tang said, `We knew what we wanted to see and we got to see those certain things` and `We have a concept of what we want to do, but we need repetition,` calling defensive issues controllable as the Wildcats work on transition.
