The European Commission has confirmed that it has received a letter from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in which Greece calls for the adoption of a single European framework to protect minors from social media addiction. The letter proposes a “digital age of majority” of 15, a pan-European ban on access for users under that age, as well as a mandatory harmonised age verification mechanism with repeated checks every six months.
The European Commission said, through its spokesperson Thomas Rainier, that it had received a letter from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in which the Greek government calls for the adoption of a single European framework to protect minors from addiction to social media.
