- During a Sept. 4 sit-in on the House floor, Democratic state Rep. Jeremy Dean sent texts while watching a livestream of a House Elections Committee hearing to protest a Republican redistricting plan this year.
- According to the ethics report, the texts included a graphic oral sex reference to the president and a second message sent roughly 20 minutes later read `Make sure it isn't blurry`.
- Sanctions include removal from committees, mandatory sexual-harassment training and an order that Dean remain at least 50 feet away from Williams; House Minority Leader Ashley Aune had already removed Dean from committees in September, and he voted `present` on the ethics report before leaving shortly after.
- Her testimony emphasized trauma and a call for expulsion, and Republican state Rep. Cecelie Williams said the messages retriggered PTSD symptoms while Dean joins at least 157 accused lawmakers, with all 10 no votes from Democrats.
