Mississauga dealership worker charged after 10 vehicles fraudulently sold with intent to ship them out of country
- A Mississauga dealership employee was arrested for fraudulently selling 10 vehicles worth about $374,000 between January 30 and February 27, 2025, to ship them out of the country.
- Investigators say the employee used his sales position to coordinate transactions involving SUVs and cars without the dealership's knowledge, enabling the fraudulent sales.
- Ankur Bhatiani, a 42-year-old from Oakville, was taken into custody and faces charges including fraud exceeding $5,000, possession of criminally obtained property, and using forged documents, along with six others who were also charged.
- Peel Regional Police recovered the vehicles, describing fraudulently acquired cars as a type of organized auto crime, and noted that this investigation has helped reduce the occurrence of such offenses in the Region of Peel.
- Authorities continue to seek two suspects, Cristian Filip and Rafael Gabriel Chirita, and ask the public to report information to Peel police or Crime Stoppers.
