Misa Rodriguez Joins Arsenal: A New Chapter Begins
The 27-year-old becomes Arsenal’s seventh summer signing and fifth free transfer after six seasons and 215 appearances for Real Madrid.
On Wednesday, Arsenal announced the signing of former Real Madrid captain Misa Rodriguez on a free transfer, with the 27-year-old goalkeeper joining the English club after her contract expired.
Rodriguez brings extensive experience from six seasons with Real, making 215 appearances while earning 24 caps for Spain, including contributions to the 2023 Women's World Cup and Nations League victories.
Media reports indicate Rodriguez signed a three-year contract with an option to extend, marking Arsenal's seventh summer signing alongside Georgia Stanway, Ona Batlle, Selina Cerci, and Geraldine Reuteler.
Rodriguez joins a competitive goalkeeping unit featuring Daphne Van Domselaar, Anneke Borbe, and Isabella Damm as Arsenal seeks improvement after finishing second behind Manchester City last season.
"I'm really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge," Rodriguez said, aiming to help compete for trophies when the Women's Super League campaign begins in September.
