Minnesota residents invited to submit art for new state parks plate
Minnesotans can submit artwork for a plate that lets buyers enter state parks without a vehicle fee and sends proceeds back to parks.
- The Minnesota Department is inviting Minnesotans to design a new Parks license plate featuring the North Shore and Lake Superior agate, which will grant vehicle access to state Parks.
- Authorized by The Minnesota Legislature, this statewide contest allows participants of all backgrounds to submit Artwork to support Parks and Trails Division funding.
- Lauren Peck of the Trails Division stated that Entries will be accepted online via the Department website from Sept 15 through Oct 31, with judges evaluating Artwork based on creativity and quality.
- Three finalists will be selected late in the year, with their Artwork posted on the Department website for public viewing, allowing People Across Minnesota to vote for their favorite design.
- Peck noted it would be nice to eventually offer plates depicting various locations Across Minnesota, suggesting that public support could lead to plates representing all four corners of Minnesota.
