- Led by Ellison and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, the coalition seeks to reverse the repeal, which reverted standards to older, less protective rules for coal- and oil-fired power plants.
- The 2024 Mercury and Air Toxics Standards Rule closed a loophole for lignite coal-burning power plants in North Dakota, requiring them to meet the same emissions standards as other facilities nationwide since 2012.
