METROPOLITAN CITY OF VENICE, VENETO, JUL 14 – Italy's state mint crafted over 1,100 recycled-metal medals symbolizing unity and sustainability for the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, organizers said.
- On July 15, 2025, in Venice, Italy, officials presented the official medals for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
- The unveiling occurred ahead of the Winter Olympics scheduled for February 6-22, 2026, and the Paralympics from March 6-15, 2026, with games split between Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
- The medals, designed as two halves forming the Olympic rings, feature event engravings, and were produced by Italy's state mint using recycled metal from production waste.
- Giovanni Malagò, Milan-Cortina organizing committee president, stated, "I can assure you they won't deteriorate" and noted they could be recycled, though he hopes this does not happen.
