Miklós Seszták, the former Hungarian Minister of Development in the government of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (Fidesz), was said to have nine billion forints (600 million crowns) in cash hidden in his home safes. However, the money was not found during a search of his home.
According to Miklós Seszták's defense attorney, the former minister never stored 9 billion forints in cash at his home.
The amount of real estate, government securities, shares and savings disclosed in his most recent asset declaration would not have amounted to 9 billion.
According to the investigation documents, Miklós Seszták kept 9 billion forints in his home safe, which the authorities eventually found empty. Storing such wealth in twenty thousand-dollar bills poses an extreme physical and logistical challenge due to the immense volume and almost half a ton weight of the banknotes, Telex reported.
Of course, the situation is different if the money, or part of it, was in euros or dollars.
