Where Is Mike Tirico? Why NBC Broadcaster Won’t Be on Bears-Bucaneers ‘Sunday Night Football’
NBC says Noah Eagle will handle play-by-play as Mike Tirico misses his 300th NFL game because of a health issue.
Noah Eagle will replace lead announcer Mike Tirico for NBC's "Sunday Night Football" broadcast between the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Soldier Field on Sunday.
Mike Tirico announced that a health issue will prevent him from calling the game, marking an unexpected absence from the broadcast booth. "Unfortunately, I will have to miss tonight's game in Chicago due to a health issue," Tirico said.
Tonight's contest would have marked Tirico's 300th NFL game called; instead, Eagle will join color analyst Cris Collinsworth and sideline reporter Melissa Stark for the Week 9 matchup.
Eagle arrives in Chicago less than 24 hours after calling the Notre Dame-Miami game, bringing experience covering NFL and NBA contests for NBC across multiple platforms.
Tirico expects to return to the booth next week when the Bengals host the Pittsburgh Steelers during "Sunday Night Football" in Cincinnati.
