Jeremiyah Love’s Week 1 Status Takes Major Turn Before Chargers Game
LaFleur said Love is progressing from a high-ankle sprain, and the Cardinals may wait until game day to decide his Week 1 status.
On Monday, Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur expressed optimism that first-round pick Jeremiyah Love will play Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, about four weeks after the running back suffered a high ankle sprain.
Love sustained the injury during an August 13 preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, exiting on his final of 14 touches before suffering the high ankle sprain.
LaFleur noted that Love was "moving around" during Monday's walk-through and is "progressing." The coach stated "I feel good" regarding the player's potential availability for Week 1.
The Cardinals will issue their first official injury report Wednesday, which will clarify Love's status. LaFleur declined to provide specifics Monday, citing competitive concerns about a team in California.
Arizona currently carries running backs Tyler Allgeier and Bam Knight on the 53-man roster, with Evan Hull available on the practice squad if additional depth is needed for the opener.
