Midterms 2026: the final message to voters
Republicans and Democrats are leaning on turnout and economic arguments as a Gallup poll shows affordability leads voter concerns.
With just days to go until the 2026 Midterms, candidates in WASHINGTON are making final pitches to voters, where affordability is taking center stage as President Donald Trump and Republicans target voter turnout.
Joe Gruters, chairman of the Republican National Committee, said "Midterms are historically bad for the incumbent party. We're trying to defy history," emphasizing turnout while Republicans host tele-rallies in more than a dozen states.
Kendall Witmer, deputy communications director for the Democratic National Committee, said Democrats remain focused on direct voter outreach, claiming "While Americans have been forced to pay more for everything, Trump and Republicans have been selling the White House to the highest bidder."
A recent Gallup poll found healthcare and foreign policy are top voter priorities alongside crime and immigration, while Democrats argue gaining control of Congress would enable a major foreign policy shift.
Both parties agree the final days before Election Day are critical for driving turnout, as the battle over legislative control remains the defining feature of these Midterms for Americans.
