During a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Mr. Abbas Arakji, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, expressed China's willingness to defend Iran's "legal interests" under the Middle East war, calling on Tehran and Washington to be "reasonable."
While tensions are not decreasing in the context of the Middle East conflict, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Beijing on Wednesday, 16 September. In a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Li said that China is ready to defend Iran's "legitimate interests" in the context of the Middle East conflict, and urges the Islamic Republic and the United States to be "rational".

"China and Iran are bound by a comprehensive strategic partnership. China is ready to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with Iran, and to effectively defend Iran's legitimate rights and interests," said the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Chinese Foreign Minister stressed that China does not want regional tensions to spread "to Yemen and the Red Sea."
