Microsoft has acknowledged that a Windows 11 update may cause solid-state drive failures and is investigating the cause of the issue with partners. Some SSDs may become unrecognizable, freeze with a black screen, or format in RAW mode after continuously writing more than 50GB of data. The affected SSDs primarily use Phison controller chips. The cause of the issue and a fix have not yet been confirmed.
