Van De Ven Speaks Out on Tottenham Hotspur Future After Liverpool Transfer Links
Van de Ven said Spurs’ £237 million rebuild has lifted morale and set a target of European qualification after two straight 17th-place finishes.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven stated the club is demonstrating "new ambition" following a £237 million summer spending spree during the pre-season tour in Australia.
After Spurs narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, marking two consecutive 17th-placed finishes, majority owners the Lewis family pledged to be "all in" for a necessary rebuild.
The club broke its transfer record twice, securing midfielder Mateus Fernandes for £85 million and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United in a £100 million deal as part of six new arrivals.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi is implementing a new philosophy focused on offensive football, with Van de Ven stating it will be "more enjoyable for people to watch" while targeting European qualification.
Currently on a pre-season tour in Australia, Spurs will face Sydney FC on Wednesday before taking on Chelsea later this week and two final friendlies against Getafe and Hoffenheim.
