Miami University signs basketball coach Travis Steele to contract extension through 2034
Miami extended Travis Steele after an undefeated regular season, a Top 25 return and the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 1999.
Miami University signed head basketball coach Travis Steele to a contract extension on Wednesday through the 2033-34 season, athletic director David Sayler announced following a historic 2025-26 campaign.
Steele engineered one of the most remarkable turnarounds in program history, leading the RedHawks to become only the fifth NCAA Division I program this century to complete an undefeated regular season with a school-record 32 victories.
The team established program records for consecutive home wins , consecutive road wins , and field-goal percentage , while Steele earned unanimous MAC Coach of the Year and the John McLendon National Coach of the Year honor.
Steele said, "Miami has created a lot of happiness for us, and we are excited to continue to build the Miami Men's Basketball Program," while Sayler emphasized the program's bright future toward a 2028 arena opening.
Miami's return to the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since February 15, 1999, and its first NCAA Tournament victory since that year mark a turning point, with Steele's 154-98 overall record positioning sustained success.
