Following the scandal over Lithuania, along with the EU and Canada, withdrawing support for a conference on disinformation in Vilnius due to US pressure, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys says that the US cannot be compared to Russia and China.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is not answering whether it withdrew from the disinformation conference due to pressure from the US presidential administration, noting that the decision was made due to the event's program being partially "not in line with the government's positions" and national interests.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs withdrew from participation in the Disinfo 2026 conference and formally distanced itself from the content of the conference and asked the organizers not to use any links to the ministry in the conference materials, after it became clear that some parts of the program did not correspond to the Government's positions and Lithuania's national interests," the ministry told Elta.
