Mxico obtained a favourable resolution in an international arbitration promoted by US funds linked to TV Azteca creditors.
Since 2023, the Mexican State had been facing arbitration by the World Bank's International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, on the grounds that they failed to comply with obligations of the T-MEC, the North American trade agreement, by failing to accede to a trial on equal terms.
ICSID concluded that Cyrus Capital Partners and Contrarian Capital Management did not have an investment under NAFTA and stated that it lacked jurisdiction.
