Mets Continue Outfield Youth Movement, Call up Nick Morabito From Triple-A Syracuse
Nick Morabito, a 23-year-old speedster, gives the Mets another outfield option as they continue a youth movement and clear roster space for him.
On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the New York Mets promoted outfielder Nick Morabito from Triple-A Syracuse to the major league roster. The 23-year-old joins the team in Washington, D.C., for his big league debut.
Following recent promotions of prospects Carson Benge and A.J. Ewing, the organization continues its youth movement by integrating Morabito into the active roster. This reflects the Mets' focus on developing internal talent.
A Virginia native, Morabito attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., a 12-minute drive from Nationals Park. He was selected in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
To accommodate the promotion, the Mets designated outfielder Austin Slater for assignment. Manager Carlos Mendoza expects Morabito to contribute as a versatile outfielder and defensive replacement.
Morabito hit.253 with 14 steals in 41 games for Syracuse this season. He joins fellow rookies Benge and Ewing as part of the Mets' youth movement.
