Metallica Team up with Services to Urge Fans to Give Blood Ahead of UK Tour
The first-ever collaboration between UK blood services and a rock band seeks new donors as officials say each donation can save up to three lives.
Heavy metal rockers Metallica are partnering with UK blood services ahead of their upcoming tour, marking a first-ever collaboration between the band and England's NHS Blood and Transplant, the Welsh Blood Service, and the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service.
Blood and plasma have a shelf life of only 35 days, creating constant pressure on UK services to maintain adequate supplies for trauma victims, cancer patients, new mothers, and those with long-term conditions.
Gerry Gogarty, Director of Blood Supply for NHS Blood and Transplant, stated every donation can save up to three lives, while Alan Prosser, spokesman for the Welsh Blood Service, called it "a truly unique moment" for reaching new audiences.
Fans across Scotland, Wales, and England can book donations through dedicated services or the NHS Give Blood app, with the band framing the effort as asking supporters to "be part of something bigger than the show."
After closing the European leg of their M72 World Tour with shows at Glasgow's Hampden Park , Cardiff's Principality Stadium , and London Stadium , Metallica will launch a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere from October 2026 to March 2027.
