Entergy Louisiana Breaks Ground on New, State-of-the-Art Generation Facilities to Power Reliability, Growth and Innovation
Entergy Louisiana’s new natural gas plants, supported by Meta, will add 1,500 MW capacity, saving customers $650 million over 15 years while boosting local jobs and economy.
- On Dec. 1, 2025, Entergy Louisiana broke ground in Richland Parish to start two CCCT facilities, adding about 1,500 megawatts.
- The Louisiana Public Service Commission approved the plan, and an expedited interconnection study will speed these projects to market, providing operational flexibility to integrate renewable resources and support low-cost service.
- Meta will fund the full interconnection infrastructure and, over the 15-year agreement, its contributions are projected to save customers approximately $650 million while lowering customer storm charges by about 10%.
- Construction and operation are expected to generate thousands of construction and technology jobs and billions in capital investment, boosting local communities in north Louisiana and benefiting Entergy customers statewide.
- The projects position Louisiana as a hub for energy and AI, with Entergy Louisiana's Louisiana 100 Plan committing $100 million, and Phillip May stating `These facilities represent the next step in Entergy Louisiana's long-term strategy to modernize our generation fleet and deliver reliable, cost-effective power to our customers`.
