Met Police Open Murder Probe After West London Memorial Shooting
Detectives are seeking witnesses after a 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and no arrests have been made.
A murder investigation has been launched after a 40-year-old man was shot dead in a "senseless act of violence" as up to 50 people gathered for a memorial service in Acton, West London, on Friday, police said.
The Metropolitan Police were called to the junction of Braybrook Street and Erconwald Street shortly before 8pm on Friday after members of the public reported hearing multiple shots fired during the service.
Despite the "best efforts" of the London Ambulance Service, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie is leading the inquiry, urging witnesses to come forward; no arrests have been made as detectives work at pace to establish what occurred.
