Met Police officer filmed making 'abhorrent racist' comments sacked
- On Thursday, October 23, PC Philip Neilson was dismissed without notice for gross misconduct at a fast-track hearing in south-west London, where allegations were proven.
- Earlier this month, a BBC Panorama documentary filmed at Charing Cross police station, London exposed officers making sexualised, anti-Muslim and racist remarks and boasting about excessive force.
- Recorded footage shows PC Philip Neilson urging shooting or deporting immigrants and calling Algerians and Somalians "scum", while boasting about using pressure points on detainees.
- Commander Jason Prins said the comments caused significant harm to the Metropolitan Police's reputation and ruled, "He alone was responsible for the comments and it was or must have been obvious to him his comments were abhorrent."
- Dismissed officers will be added to the College of Policing Barred List, and Mr Neilson is among 10 officers facing accelerated misconduct hearings next week.
