Met urges Epping migrant sex offender to hand himself in
Hadush Kebatu was mistakenly freed from HMP Chelmsford due to staff shortages; 262 prisoners were wrongly released in England and Wales last year, prison service data shows.

- The Metropolitan Police led the search into its third day, with Commander James Conway urging anyone who sees Kebatu or helped him to call 999; Sim reported Kebatu returning confused 'four or five times' and being turned away.
- Court records show Kebatu was found guilty of five offences after a three-day trial linked to July 7 incidents, the court heard his 'firm wish' to be deported, and protests erupted in Epping, Essex.
