Merline and Raymond Herbert opened their restaurant Creole Lunch House in Lafayette, Louisiana in 1983. They have grown into a beloved local spot serving famous plate lunches and stuffed breads, and Merline has been a past fixture as a food vendor at Jazz Fest in New Orleans. Merline Herbert died on July 1, 2025 in Lafayette at the age of 84.
