In Gironde, a 15-year-old minor was arrested as part of the fire investigation that claimed the lives of two firefighters. He allegedly threw a cigarette butt out of a car. (Police, justice and other facts).
Two firefighters died in July near Bordeaux after their truck had been "trapped" in a plot of pines delivered to flames.
Unknown to the judicial services, the minor admitted "to have smoked a cigarette, thrown away afterwards, thus believing that he could be at the origin of the disaster, without certainty", according to the Bordeaux Public Prosecutor's Office.
The 15-year-old was charged with the charge of "involuntary destruction by fire (...) causing the death of others", according to a statement by the public prosecutor in Bordeaux, Renaud Gaudeul.
