Meningitis in Rennes: why the latest discoveries reassure researchers

The news is to be reassuring on the meningococcal meningitis front in Rennes: ARS confirmed that the strains at the end of April are different from those seen at the beginning of the year. Moreover, the two young people who had been hospitalized at CHU in Rennes were able to return to their homes.

There is no link between the first strains of meningitis that had led to an unprecedented vaccination campaign in Rennes and those that again infected two young people at the end of April 2025, concluded the researchers of the Institut Pasteur. And for them, it is rather reassuring.
