Mead’s Quarry reopens for swimming, boating after temporary algae bloom

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Mead's Quarry at Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville is back open after being closed for almost a month due to a potentially-toxic algae. A health advisory was issued on March 21 for a seasonal algal bloom that could be harmful to people and pets.
