X-Men Casts Gen V Star Asa Germann As Angel After He Impressed In Audition For Different Mutant
The Gen V and Scream 7 actor joins a growing ensemble that already includes Kit Connor, Sadie Sink and Adam Driver.
Marvel Studios has cast Gen V star Asa Germann as Warren Worthington III, also known as Angel, in the upcoming X-Men reboot. Germann joins an increasingly crowded ensemble that Marvel Studios formally unveiled at D23 last month.
Although Germann previously tested for Scott Summers, the Kevin Feige-led studio was impressed enough to offer him the part of Warren instead. Kit Connor ultimately landed the Cyclops role, leaving Angel available for Germann.
Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Warren is an original X-Men member with feathered wings granting flight. Ben Foster played him in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, while Ben Hardy portrayed the character in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse.
Germann joins an ensemble including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver will play villain Nathaniel Essex, or Mister Sinister.
Filmmaker Jake Schreier directs the movie, which is scheduled for release on May 5, 2028. Schreier has emphasized that his version will remain recognizably distinct from previous Fox films while exploring comic ideological tensions.
