Only man to appeal in Gisele Pelicot case says not a 'rapist'
Husamettin Dogan, the only man left appealing his conviction for sexually abusing Gisele Pelicot, is hoping to rid himself of the label of rapist when he steps back into court in France on Monday.
Husamettin D., 44 years old, will appear for four days before the Nîmes Court of Appeal for aggravated rapes committed on Gisèle Pelicot. Of the 51 men convicted in 2024, he is the only one to have committed serious rapes on Gisèle Pelicot.
While Gisèle Pelicot's memoirs are scheduled for February, nearly fifteen books have already been published for a year on this internationally resounding trial.
One year after the river court hearing which had resulted in the conviction of 51 men accused of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault to the detriment of Gisèle Pelicot, the court of appeal of the Gard will consider from Monday on the actions of Husamettin Dogan, 44 years old. He had been sentenced in Avignon to nine years' imprisonment.
