Due to possible irregularities in the postal election, the first ballot of the mayoral election in Strausberg in Brandenburg is to be repeated. More than 1000 ballot letters are missing.
The mayoral election in Strausberg was declared invalid by Landrat Gernot Schmidt (SPD). The reason for this is obvious irregularities in the postal election. Out of 4,000 mail ballot documents sent, only 2,835 came back – an unusually high difference of around 30 percent instead of the usual 10 percent.
