- Oscar Piastri led after the Dutch GP on Aug. 31, holding a 34-point edge over Norris and 104 points over Verstappen, but Norris's Brazil GP sprint win in early November pushed him 39 points clear of Verstappen with four races to go.
- Verstappen's late-season surge included winning the Abu Dhabi race from pole position for a third straight race win, his season-leading eighth and 71st career victory.
- After the race, Verstappen and Norris were all smiles watching highlights together in the cool-down room, and Zak Brown said `This Max guy is pretty hard to beat`.
