‘Anti-Racing’: Max Verstappen Threatens to Quit F1
Max Verstappen criticized the 2026 Formula 1 technical regulations, calling the new car design 'anti-racing' due to the required balance between battery power and internal combustion engine power making the cars hard to push to the limits.
Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton expressed frustration with the 'lift-and-coast' driving style and energy management required by the new energy recovery rules, stating it diminishes driving enjoyment and complicates racing.
The new regulations, expected to remain until at least 2030, have led Verstappen to hint at quitting Formula 1 if driving continues to lack fun.
Despite these criticisms, there was no public response from Formula 1 officials to the complaints from top drivers about the new regulations.
Formula 1 is racing around the world again. Three weeks before the start of the season in Bahrain (March 8th in Australia) the pilots start their first laps.
