- Marijuana reform advocate Kevin Gilnack had challenged the signatures, claiming they were "obtained through fraudulent means," "illegible," or not genuine, arguing the committee failed to file the required 12,429 certified signatures.
- In a 16-page decision, the commission found Gilnack "did not meet the burden of proof" to disqualify the signatures, ultimately invalidating only four of the 12,551 submitted.
- Wendy Wakeman, a spokesperson for the Coalition for a Healthy Massachusetts, said the decision "closes one chapter," while Ryan Dominguez, chair of the Stop the Repeal Campaign, vowed to continue the opposition effort.
- Statewide polling shows 63 percent of Massachusetts voters oppose the question, including 74 percent of Democrats and 69 percent of Independents, marking the first time voters will weigh in on repealing legalization.
