Masashi Kishimoto to Launch New Naruto Manga

Masashi Kishimoto’s new manga is one of at least eight Naruto releases planned under Project Rasengan through 2029, officials said.

  • On Saturday, the 'NARUTO: What's Next?' panel at New York Comic Con unveiled two major projects: a new manga titled 'Shadow Rising' by series creator Masashi Kishimoto and an anime crossover series called 'Naruto x Ninku'.
  • These projects launch a roadmap titled 'Project Rasengan' spanning through 2029, featuring the crossover with Koji Kiriyama's Ninku manga, which originally inspired Kishimoto to create Naruto.
  • Supervised by Kishimoto and Kiriyama, the Naruto x Ninku anime is currently in production under director Noriyuki Abe and character designer Tetsuya Nishio, following Team 7's accidental journey into the Ninku world.
  • Separately, director Destin Daniel Cretton shared a message regarding the live-action Naruto film, stating that capturing the character's "spirit" remains central to the Lionsgate adaptation.
  • The Jump Festa 2027 event on December 19-20 will offer additional updates on the franchise's roadmap and these newly confirmed projects.
