Maryland woman says TPUSA high school event raised 'serious concerns,' says Child Protective Services notified
Nancy Krause reported a TPUSA-affiliated student event citing concerns over parental exclusion and student safety, prompting a Child Protective Services inquiry.
- On Thursday, Nancy Krause, a retired nurse, told the Calvert County Board she filed a report with Child Protective Services after Calvert County Club America barred non-volunteer adults at a Dec. 17 event featuring two board members.
- Because board members are mandatory reporters, Krause said students are in critical developmental stages and organizers said all attendees had parental permission.
- The chapter president told the board that Calvert County Club America is separate from Calvert County Public Schools, cannot endorse candidates, and invited discussion on policies.
- The exchange prompted officials to note concerns about student safety, parental rights, and governance oversight after Tyler Bowyer, Chief Operating Officer of Turning Point USA, reposted the video of Krause's comments.
- Amid widespread interest, school districts from Virginia to Michigan have clashed over chapters, including resistance in Prince William County and protests at a Nov. 13 school board meeting in Royal Oak, Michigan.
